Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the journalism industry has not been immune to layoffs and furloughs.
Some journalists are among the six million people who recently applied for unemployment. National Geographic is looking to help. It is offering financial aid to journalist during the coronavirus outbreak.
The National Geographic Society has launched an emergency fund for journalists across the globe who want to cover COVID-19 in their communities. The fund will distribute grants ranging from $1,000 to $8,000 for local coverage of the preparation, response, and impact of the global pandemic through evidence-based reporting.
